Kickin' Chick Peas

Freshly washed chicks...
Chick peas, garbanzo beans. Whatever you call them, they rock. I mean, come on, hummus, falafel... Yum! Well, I was getting a bit bored of my everyday snacking (and I wanted something a tad healthier/more filling than Lays) so I decided to fiddle around the pantry. Voila! Crispy, satisfying, and delicious little morsels that can be eaten alone or drizzled with a bit of raita.

Ingredients:
• 1 can chick peas
• 1Tbs garam masala (Indian spice blend. You can use curry powder too, but the g.m. has a nice sweetness to it)
• 2 tsp olive oil
• 1/2 tsp salt

Serve with cilantro and yogurt sauce.
Preheat the oven to 400. Rinse your chicks really really well. Then mix them until thoroughly coated with the remaining two ingredients. Spread the beans onto a parchment lined cookie sheet. Take care to make sure there is one even layer to ensure crispness.
Bake for 15 minutes then give chicks a quick toss. Replace in oven and continue cooking for another 15(ish) minutes. Keep an eye on them at this point to avoid burning. When they become nice and crispy, remove form oven and allow to cool. Garnish with chopped cilantro and raita if you like. You can store these little gals in an air tight container for a week or so, if you'd like, but I never get that far.
