Mini Caramel Sticky Buns

Hello, lovelies!

It is time that I let you all in on one of my favorite little known holidays. Yes, it's another one of those "made up" food holidays, but whatever. It's the perfect excuse to indulge. What day is it? Why, it's National Sticky Bun Day! (Feb. 21, 2013) That's right. You read correctly. Some amazingly ingenious person came up with a day just for celebrating one of the best breakfast items ever made... and I'm inviting you to join me in the celebration.

For this joyous occasion, I've elected to create the cutest possible version of the sticky bun. The best way to "cute-ify" something? Make it mini! These little babes are sticky, sweet, and a breeze to make thanks to a super quick shortcut item.

Ingredients:

For the dough:

  • 1 can of your favorite refrigerated crescent rolls
For the filling:

  • 1/8 C. brown sugar
  • 1 Tbs. cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 C nuts (I used walnuts)
For the glaze:

  • 1/4 C butter (that's 1/2 stick)
  • 1/2 C. brown sugar
  • 1/2 C. cream
  • 1/4 C honey
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 C nuts (again, I used walnuts)

Watch the video below to learn how to whip up a batch:

These delicious morsels are super easy to make, and have a great homemade flavor (even with the store bought dough). They're simple enough to make for an impromptu brunch, but can also be made and stored in advance. Make the glaze (minus the nuts) and refrigerate for up to 1 week. Complete the rolls (but do not cut them) wrap in wax paper, and freeze for up to 3 months! Perfect for whenever you're just dying for that perfect, sweet way to start your day.

I hope you all loved these as much as my house did! How did you celebrate National Sticky Bun Day?

Love always,
